Artwork

I paint with either oil paint or oil pastels on Arches cotton paper. This technique has evolved for me because oil pastels are far more portable than oil paint, and oil paint dries faster on paper. I work on-site (en pleine air), trying to convey the quality of light and space — which is both fun and frustrating, since the light constantly changes and shifts, not only by the minute, but from day to day, with temperature and humidity. And when the light shifts, the way you see space and distance changes, so it's sort of a race.

I love sitting in a field hearing the birds and bugs going about their business. And I'm lucky enough to live in a place where there's open land that probably hasn't changed much in centuries.
